"Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless." - Sherry Anderson
Volunteering at Canadian Mental Health Saint John Branch Inc.
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Saint John Branch, Inc. recognizes the important role volunteers play in our organization and our community. Without the help and involvement of volunteers, many programs offered by CMHA-Saint John Branch, Inc. would not be available. We appreciate the dedication and initiative of our volunteers who unselfishly contribute their time and energy to further our mission.
Volunteering is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals and the community at large; it is working with others to making a meaningful contribution to a better community.
People volunteer for different reasons. Many want to gain experience, acquire new skills, meet new people or expand their network of contacts. Others just want to give back to their community, to help someone or to promote a worthwhile activity. They volunteer because it makes them feel good.
Volunteer Opportunities: There are a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers at the Canadian Mental Health Association Saint John Branch, Inc. including such activities as:
- fund-raising
- office support

A word from our volunteers:
| “I am a social work student doing my field practicum at CMHA Saint John Branch. Essentially, I’m a volunteer. I’ve never volunteered in a place that is so welcoming and friendly. Everyone in the office really takes the time to reach out to the volunteers and to make sure that their needs are being met. The other volunteers are all very friendly and really enjoy life to the fullest. After my practicum is complete I will continue on as a volunteer and help out where I’m needed the most. Thank you to everyone at CMHA in making this experience so wonderful.”

"I have been volunteering for CMHA since March 1994, and that started with the Crisis Help Line and that lasted untill June 1997. Still staying with CMHA I joined Skate To Care in the year 2000, and still remain interested and dedicated to the fundraiser and the CMHA Brite Lites. My plan is to try to put in more volunteer time with CMHA in the year 08'/09'."
